Welch Hall is located right at the left of Phelps Gate looking from College Street in Old Campus, New Haven Connecticut. It’s a 3 and a half story, late Gothic Revival style building with 3 main entryways located in front of New Haven Green, on the southwest side of Old Campus. It serves as freshman dormitories for Yale College students, in particular this year, from Ezra Stiles residential college. Built in 1892 in a Late Gothic Revival style, the building is one of two remaining pieces in New Haven by architect Bruce Price (1845-1903). Furthermore, it’s considered to be one of the most spacious and nicer residential complexes for first-years. Notable features include in-suite bathrooms, underground connecting passages and the desired two-floor princess suites on the uppermost floor*. Among the different suite configurations, It is possible to find the famous “12-pack” and “10-pack”, a series of big complexes shared by 12 and 10 first-years respectively, becoming a highly social and enriching micro community.
