When leaving Yale’s campus southbound on College Street, and right as you find yourself at the intersection with George Street, you will come across a low, flat-roofed gray building lined with three rows of windows. The first storefront to greet you as you approach is Liberty Bank’s College Street Office, situated at 153 College Street. The building is in stark contrast to the gothic and Georgian revival styles that characterizes a big piece of Yale architecture. A masterpiece of mid-century “Urban Renewal” architecture, this building is gray, corporate, and utilitarian. The building also sits right around the corner from the Oak Street Connector, bringing consumer traffic from the Interstate Highway System straight to its door.
